Sciencescope – the Association for French-speaking students and researchers in Japan, the Association of Italian Researchers in Japan (AIRJ), the German JSPS Alumni Association, and Ace Japón – Asociación de Científicos Españoles en Japón are pleased to invite you to the 4th symposium of the European Researcher Associations in Japan (F.I.D.ES).

This interactive event is an opportunity to strengthen the connection between European researchers in Japan, share experiences, and build bridges across disciplines and institutions in both Japan and Europe. We warmly encourage you to join us and contribute to shaping a more connected European research community in Japan.

15:15Life as a European Researcher in Japan: Challenges, Surprises, Bridges
  • Moderated interactive panel discussion with a diverse group of individual researchers
 
15:45Interactive Session I: Mapping Our Community and building bridges
Format: Small-group activity (4-5 per table)
Output:
  • “Japan Bridges” describing concrete multidisciplinary cooperation ideas within Japan.
  • “Europe-Japan bridges” extending previous activity to their European home institutions.
 
16:30Interactive Session II: Designing Our Collective Future
Format: “World Café” rotating discussions (3 rounds × ~20 min) different researchers by different seniority
Output: brainstorming how to create a structure beneficial for all European researchers in Japan, not just those from the four represented countries, prepare an Action Board
