Gaede Prize for Dr. Takashi Kumagai 2020

Dr. Takashi Kumagai received the Gaede Prize 2020. He received this prize for his pioneering and outstanding research work on the dynamics of hydrogen bonds at the level of individual molecules. He is the first Japanese scientist to receive this award in the field of vacuum technology.

In 2011, Dr. Kumagai came as a postdoc with a JSPS grant to the Fritz Haber Institute of the Max Planck Society in Berlin. From 2013 he is there as head of the "Nanoscale Surface Chemistry" working group in the Department of Physical Chemistry. He studied and did his doctorate at Kyōto University in Japan.

The Gaede Prize was foundes in 1985 by Dr. by Manfred Dunkel and is administered by the Gaede Foundation. The award ceremony will be held by the Deutsche Physikalische Gesellschaft e.V. during the DPG spring conference in March 2020 in Dresden.
